During a hearing on an urgent petition on Monday, a UK court refused to release a hefty amount for fugitive liquor businessman Vijay Mallya to fight the law. Explain that 13 banks under the leadership of State Bank of India have filed a bankruptcy case against Vijay Mallya. Explain that nearly 29 million pounds of Vijay Mallya’s property is seized with the Court of Funds office. Mallya had requested to release 28 lakh pounds from this property. In support of the application, Mallya’s lawyer Philipp Marshall argued that his client is in desperate need of money.
Hearing will be held on 22 January
It is worth noting that while hearing through video conferencing by the Court of Insolvency and Companies of London High Court, Judge Sebastian Prentice said that Mallya could not give any basic information for such order. The court has agreed to release the same amount, which is necessary for the hearing of the bankruptcy case on Wednesday. The judge said during the hearing, “I am shocked by the quick application in this case.” Along with this, the court also said that the release of funds will now be decided on January 22 with the case listed for hearing before the High Court.
Instructions to submit detailed report on Mallya’s property
Please tell that the court has also given instructions to submit a detailed report about Mallya’s property. It also includes information about jewelery and expensive luxury cars. Instructions have been given to present all this information in the 22 January hearing.
