Flipkart has added voice search feature on its platform. This feature will help customers to search items by speaking in Hindi, English or Hinglish (mix of English and Hindi). The company says that it will prove to be very beneficial for people who have difficulty in finding goods, this feature will improve their shopping experience. Last year, Amazon also added voice search option to its Android app.
Flipkart says that – Searching by voice is three times faster than typing in English and five times faster than typing in Hindi. This feature will help Flipkart improve its understanding of new users and help sellers reach new customers. Currently this feature is available only for Android users.
How to use voice search feature
Initially, voice search can be used both on Flipkart mobile app or its mobile site. For this, you have to click on the icon of the microphone on the phone, which will appear when tapping on the search bar.
The company says that it will be able to search the product by speaking in Hindi and English as per their convenience in voice search. Through this, more than 15 crore products can be found in more than 80 categories.

Flipkart said that with the introduction of voice search feature, users of small cities will be able to search easily. More than 75% of internet users in India come from non-English backgrounds. Most of them live in rural areas. In such a situation, it becomes very important that the language related problems of the people are being removed. In the year 2020, Bain & Company and Flipkart conducted a study which revealed that online shoppers residing in Tier-2 cities contribute 3 out of 5 orders on e-commerce platforms.
