Justice Rajeev Shakdhar, in a hearing through video conferencing, ordered the release of Safoora, pregnant for 23 weeks, on personal bond of Rs 10,000 and bail of the same amount. The court said that Safoora will not engage in any activity related to the case nor try to influence the investigation or witnesses. Safoora Zargar was arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) on charges of communal violence in North East Delhi in February over the Revised Citizenship Act (CAA).

Safoora bail was not opposed by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta on humanitarian grounds. Appearing for the Delhi Police during the court hearing, Mehta said that Safoora can be granted regular bail on humanitarian grounds and the decision should not be taken on the basis of the facts of the case nor should it be made a Nazir.
