Just as the entire world celebrates Mother’s Day to honor the mother, Father’s Day is celebrated to honor the father. The whole world celebrates Father Day on 21 June. Father’s Day is celebrated in a different style. Some children give gifts to their father on this day and make their day special by doing various kinds of things. Some people go out with their father on this day, and some people also make special food for their father on this day. But this time Father’s Day will be different. This year due to the corona epidemic in the world, you should celebrate Father’s Day at home.
To celebrate Father’s Day was first started in America. The inspiration for this special day came from Mother’s Day in the year 1909. Sonora Dodd started this day in memory of her father in Spokane City, Washington. After this, in 1916, US President Woodrow Wilson approved the proposal to celebrate this day. President Calvin Kulij declared it a national event in the year 1924. At the same time, in the year 1966, US President Lyndon Johnson decided to celebrate this special day on the third Sunday of June.
Father’s Day is celebrated on various dates in the world – including giving gifts, special meals for the father and family activities. Contrary to popular belief, Father’s Day was actually celebrated on June 19, 1910 in Fairmont, West Virginia. Several months ago on 6 December 1907, this special day was organized by Mrs. Grace Golden Clayton in honor of the 210 fathers killed in a mine accident in Monongaah, West Virginia. The First Father’s Day Church still exists in Fairmont today as the Central United Methodist Church.
What is the story behind this day was celebrated on June 19 in 1910 after the efforts of Sonora Smart Dodd of Washington. In 1909, Mother’s Day was being preached in Spokane’s Church, after which Dodd felt that Father’s Day should be celebrated like Mother’s. The idea was taken from the Spokane YMCA with the help of Dr. Conrad Bluhm, the pastor of the Old Centenary Presbyterian Church. Where the Spokane YMCA and the Ministry of Alliance agreed to the idea and in 1910, Father’s Day was celebrated for the first time.
