The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the draft of the Special Protection Force bill. On Wednesday, this decision was taken through cabinet by circulation. After the new decision, the UPSSF personnel will now be given the responsibility of protecting other institutions including metro rail, airport, district courts, industrial institutions, banks, financial institutions, historical, religious and pilgrimage sites.
In a meeting chaired by UP CM Yogi Adityanath, it has been decided that five battalions will be formed in the first phase. Later, the units will be increased according to the need.
Obviously, special trained force is required for security in the district courts along with metro rail, airports, industrial institutes, banks and other financial institutions etc. Therefore special training will be given to UPSSF personnel. Although initially PAC jawans will be trained and assigned responsibility. Its headquarters will be in Lucknow.
