Dream 11 Fantasy Sports: Revenue increased 3 times in a year people spent 16 thousand 500 crores on playing games in a year

Sports worldwide were closed for months due to coronaviruses. But there was no significant difference in the business of fantasy sports in the country. According to the report of Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports (FIFS) and KPMG, the revenue of fantasy sports has increased almost three times in the last one year. Revenue was 920 crores in 2018-19, which increased to 2470 crores in 2019-20.

16,500 crore was spent on the contest entry in 2019-20. In 2018-19 it was 6 thousand crores. There were 10 fantasy operators in 2016, becoming 140 in 2019.

Dream-11’s maximum 7.5 million users

Talking about fantasy sports users, Dream-11 has the highest 75 million users. Former captain MS Dhoni is its brand ambassador. Its revenue in 2018-19 was around Rs 775 crore. During this time, Fantasy Sports Company spent Rs 785 crore on ad and promotion. Dream-11 is also the main sponsor of BCCI and IPL.

Apart from this, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly Mai-11 Circle, Virender Sehwag My Team-11 and Yuvraj Singh are the brand ambassadors of batting. If the IPL does not happen this year, then the revenue could be reduced by 30 to 40 percent.

Cricket is the most favorite sport in the country, with 85 per cent of people investing money on cricket. In 2019, people put the highest amount of 85 percent on cricket. However, in the last three years, it has declined due to football and kabaddi. In 2016, about 95 percent of the amount was spent on cricket. Harsh Jain, co-founder of Dream-11, said, ‘The game was almost stopped due to Corona.

Indian fans then turned to Belarus football, Tajikistan basketball and Taiwan baseball through Fantasy Sports. ‘ The fantasy league has a major share of the IPL, but this time the league is still postponed due to Covid-19.

India to be a big market for fantasy sports: Amitabh Kant, CEO of Amitabh Niti Aayog said that I am confident that India can become the global champion of fantasy sports industry. Apart from this, it also has good job prospects. FIFS Strategic Advisor Amrit Mathur said that the absence of sports for the last few months had a bad impact.

If the game resumes in the country then Fantasy Sports may be back. But in the midst of all this, a proper means has to be created to examine them. Recently, a T20 league has been organized in Mohali, describing it as the league of Sri Lanka. It was also streamed live on Fan Code. However, it is being investigated by the police and the BCCI.
