The government has extended the deadline of July 26 to apply under the ‘Self-reliant India App Innovation Challenge’. The deadline has been extended after startups and IT entrepreneurs across the country showed more interest in it. The Ministry of Electronics and IT gave this information on Friday.
First deadline was July 18
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this competition on July 4 to reduce dependence on foreign apps. So far, 2,353 applications have come from Indian units in various categories. The ministry said in a statement that in view of the good response to the Self-reliant India App Innovation Challenge, the government has extended the last date for submission of applications to participate in it to July 26, 2020.
Most applications came in this segment
This competition is in eight categories. Under this, 286 entries have been received in the health segment. 339 applications have been received under e-learning, 414 under social networking, 136 under sports, 238 under office and work from home, 75 on news and 96 in entertainment sector. Apart from this, 389 entries have come under other categories. There are 100 of these apps which have been downloaded by more than one lakh people. 2,000 applications have come for video conferencing, out of which 12 have been short-listed.
Three companies have been selected for the reward
In this competition, three companies have been selected for a reward of 20 lakh rupees. This includes Sarv Webs in Jaipur, PeopleLink in Hyderabad and Techgentsia in Kerala. The companies that won the challenge include Aria Telecom of Ghaziabad, VideoMeet in Jaipur, VacSetu in Delhi and Joho of Chennai.
